There’s nothing quite like a 2nd birthday cake smash to celebrate the joy and personality of a growing toddler—and little Amy’s session was the perfect mix of sweet chaos and pure fun! At two years old, kids are full of curiosity, expression, and energy, making this milestone an ideal time to capture candid, colorful moments that families will treasure forever.
Why a Cake Smash for the 2nd Birthday?
While 1st birthday cake smashes are a popular tradition, many parents are now choosing to do it again for their child’s 2nd Birthday Cake Smash Photoshoot—and for good reason. At two, toddlers are more mobile, more expressive, and love getting messy, which makes the photos even more fun and full of personality.
Amy was no exception. From the moment she arrived, we knew we were in for a lively session! On her 1st first birthday photoshoot, she wasn’t happy to touch the cake, unlike the second birthday.

The Setup
For Amy’s 2nd Birthday Cake Smash Photoshoot, we chose a pink car with pink flowers in the background for her portrait session. Then we had a few more portraits in the popular boho setup.
For the cake smash, mama chose a cocolmelon pastel-themed setup with soft pinks, lavender, and touches of gold. A whimsical “Two Sweet” sign added a playful touch. Amy wore a polica dot matching outfit and a pearl headband, making her the center of attention—and she knew it!
We placed a beautiful custom cocomelon cake right in the middle of the set: perfectly sized for little hands to dig into.
Let the Cake Smash Begin!
Amy was a little hesitant at first, delicately poking the icing with one finger. But once she realized this was a no-rules kind of situation, the giggles began! She dove in with both hands, smeared frosting across her face, and even offered cake to her parents (and our camera!).
By the end of the session, Amy was covered in frosting, her laughter echoing through the studio—and we had captured dozens of magical, messy moments.
