Offering beautiful, natural newborn photography in the comfort of your home across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.

In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography is all about capturing the natural bond and authentic connection your family shares with your new baby.

The first days at home with your newborn are some of the most fleeting moments you’ll ever experience. Your routines are new, your home feels different, and everything slows down in a way you’ll never forget. An in-home newborn session is a beautiful way to preserve this exact chapter – your baby, your family, and the space where it all began.

I focus on natural interaction and genuine moments, capturing your family just as you are. To keep everything simple and stress-free, I provide a selection of neutral outfits for your baby to wear during the session. I also bring soft knit blankets and swaddles, so you don’t need to prepare anything in advance.

I aim to make the whole experience easy and comfortable, so you can enjoy this special time while I capture beautiful, natural memories for you.

Why You Should Consider In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography

A lifestyle newborn session is a unique, convenient, and comfortable way to document the early days of your baby’s life in your home setting.

Photoshoot at home adds personal value, keeps your baby comfortable, and removes the stress of travelling. It allows flexibility for feeding, sleeping, older babies, siblings, and even pets—making the session easy, calm, and natural for everyone.

Guidelines To Get Ready for Your In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography Session

Timing is Everything
1

Create a Warm, Comfortable Space: Newborns thrive in warmth, which helps them feel secure, relaxed, and settled during the session. Turning up the heating to around 24–27°C will keep your baby cozy and content, especially during outfit changes or skin-to-skin moments.

2

Natural Light is Key: Pick a room with lots of natural light.
Choose a room with plenty of natural light, as soft window light creates a beautiful, gentle glow that enhances skin tones and adds a timeless feel to your images. Before the session, open all blinds and curtains to allow as much light in as possible. This helps me easily identify the best spots in your home to capture natural, airy photographs that feel warm, authentic, and full of life.

3

Clear the Clutter: A tidy space helps keep the focus exactly where it belongs—on your baby—by minimising visual distractions in the background. The master bedroom, living area, and nursery are usually the best spaces for lifestyle newborn sessions, as they offer a natural, comfortable setting while telling the story of your family at home.

4

What to Wear:
Keep outfits simple and soft. Neutral, light tones such as white, cream, beige, or pastels photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby. Avoid bold or bright colours, as they can feel harsh and distract from your baby’s natural, delicate skin tones.

5

Parents’ Outfits:
I usually recommend planning two outfit options: one slightly more formal and one casual. Many mums love a flowing maxi or floor-length dress for the formal look, paired with a light top and darker jeans for a relaxed option. Dads photograph best in neutral, solid button-downs or sweaters with well-fitted khaki, black jeans, or chinos.
Whatever you choose, comfort is key. Please avoid logos or text on clothing, and ensure everything is ironed or steamed, as wrinkles can show in photographs.

6

Feeding and Comfort:
Please try to feed your baby just before we begin, as a full tummy often means a calm, sleepy, and content little one. There’s absolutely no rush—breaks for feeding and cuddles are always welcome throughout the session. If you’re nursing, it can also help to avoid spicy or gas-causing foods in the 24 hours leading up to your session to keep baby as comfortable as possible.

7

Have Comfort Items Handy: Pacifiers or favorite blankets can help soothe your baby if they get fussy during the session.

8

Photos with Siblings: Sibling photos are usually taken first, as little ones have limited patience—and that’s perfectly normal. A quick practice cuddle before the session can help them feel comfortable with the baby. Let them choose between two outfit options, keep snacks handy, and a little incentive or “reward” at the end can work wonders.

10

Including Pets: I love it when pets join family photos! 🐾 Your baby’s safety is my top priority, so I’ll only position pets nearby with your approval. Keep plenty of treats on hand to keep everyone happy!

11

Including Grandparents:
Grandparents bring a special warmth to a newborn session, and their presence can make photos even more meaningful. Capturing their bond with the baby creates lasting memories and celebrates the love that spans generations.

FAQs

Q-When should I book my newborn session?

Newborn photoshoots are best done within 5-21 days. During this time, babies are super sleepy and naturally curl up, making those adorable poses a breeze.
You should always book your newborn session at least 2 months in advance to ensure you have a spot. However, I know how busy life gets, and if you didn’t get a chance to book in advance and your baby is already here or coming soon, you can contact me, and I will do my best to fit you in.

Q-What Parts of Home Photograph Best?

In-home newborn sessions often take place in:

• Master Bedroom
Soft bedding and gentle light create cozy, intimate images of a baby snuggled close.

• Nursery
Your baby’s room adds meaningful detail—cribs, blankets, and the little touches you lovingly prepared.

• Living Room
A bright window and simple sofa can offer beautiful, clean, natural portraits.

Every space contributes something unique. We use what feels natural and comfortable for your family.

Q-We are not good at taking pictures; will you guide us?

Yes, I will guide, queue, and direct you the entire time so there will be no awkward moments, and you’ll know exactly what to do.

Q-How Does Booking A Newborn Shoot Work? What If The Baby Comes Early Or Late?

Commonly, babies can arrive earlier or later than the expected due date.
If you are interested in booking a newborn photoshoot with me, I will reserve a tentative date based on the due date. Once the baby has arrived, you need to contact me within 48 hours so we can book a time within the first 2 weeks of birth.

Q-How should we prep our house for the in-home session?

Do not worry about your house not being in tip-top shape. We’ll do most of the photos in front of windows, in the baby’s nursery if it’s already set up, and in your bed (if you like). Once you book, I will email you a detailed guide with tips for the house prep.

Q-What is the best way to dress for our session?

I recommend more comfortable “home” clothes for the parents. Neutrals, whites, grays, blacks, and nudes are great for a clean look. These colors also keep the focus on skin tones. For the baby, a simple, clean white onesie or a romper is great.

Q-Which areas do you serve?

I travel to any location within Milton Keynes. For further locations, a travel fee will be applied.

Q-Do you bring some props along for a photoshoot?

No—lifestyle newborn sessions focus entirely on natural, real-life moments with your baby and family. Props are not used, as the aim is to capture genuine interactions in your home. If you’re looking for styled setups with props, a studio newborn session would be a better fit.
